American rock band Falling in Reverse canceled their UK show of The Popular MonsTOUR II's Europe leg, citing frontman Ronnie Radke’s criminal past hindering the visa process. On December 3, the band took to their Instagram Story and wrote:
“We regret to announce that the home office has denied Ronnie’s visa application for the remaining 2024 U.K. shows (4 Dec – 16 Dec). The U.K. is currently refusing entry to visa applicants who served more than 12 months prison time, as Ronnie did in 2008.
“Therefore, we will not be able to come to the U.K. this month to perform the shows we were greatly looking forward to. We will be postponing the shows to next year while we continue to work through this issue legally to obtain the necessary visa. We will keep you posted as we know more.”
For the unversed, Ronnie Radke served nearly two and a half years in prison in 2008 after he violated his five-year probation sentence related to a May 2006 killing. While the now-40-year-old musician was not directly involved in the crime, he was the one who initiated the fight between rival groups, one led by him and the other by Marcel Colquitt.
Exploring Ronnie Radke’s criminal history amid Falling in Reverse’s UK Tour postponement
In mid-2006, Ronnie Radke and Marcel Colquitt met to fight each other near the Shadow Ridge High School on the north side of Decatur Boulevard in Las Vegas around 2.30 pm. While the reason behind the altercation remains unknown, both brought their respective crews.
However, during the altercation, 18-year-old Michael Cook, who was team Colquitt, was shot and killed. While 22-year-old Chase Rader, who was accompanying Ronnie Radke, admitted to firing the gun aimed at Cook, prosecutors argued he acted in self-defense. Colquitt’s brother was also injured in the fight.
While nobody was convicted of murder, Ronnie Radke was charged with and pled guilty to battery with substantial bodily harm and for carrying brass knuckles to the fight, which was illegal in Nevada.
Consequently, he was sentenced to five-year probation and over $90,000 in restitution to the victim’s mother. Eventually, the Watch Me singer failed to report to his parole officer, thus violating the terms of his probation. He was sentenced to 18 months in High Desert State Prison in 2008.
At the time, Ronnie Radke was involved with the Las Vegas-based rock band Escape the Fate but lost the job due to his legal issues. He was replaced by Craig Mabbitt.
He founded Falling in Reverse that same year from behind bars. After his release in December 2010, he became the band’s lead vocalist and has served in the role ever since.
Falling in Reverse’s much-awaited sold-out UK tour, which was scheduled between December 4 and 16, has now been postponed to the next year after his visa was denied due to his past conviction and prison sentence.
Notably, the band’s Vienna shows were postponed due to “production-related logistical issues” last month. At the time, Ronnie Radke faced criticism after he told a fan to “go eat a f**king Vienna sausage and shut the f**k up” after they showed frustration over lack of clarity.
Despite the setbacks, Falling in Reverse is set to perform in Australia in March 2025. The band is also set to perform in Germany and Belgium in June 2025. They recently dropped out of Austria’s 2025 Nova Rock Festival.
