Selena Gomez first entered the pop world with her band, The Scene. Before her successful solo career, Selena and The Scene were signed with Disney's Hollywood Records in 2008. Their entry into the music industry was marked by two singles, Falling Down and Naturally. The latter went on to be a dance hit and received heavy appreciation.

The band released a trio of albums in the years together, until 2012. In January 2012, Selena Gomez announced that the band was going on a hiatus and won't release new songs. However, she did not leave the band on a sour note. The Love On singer revealed that she left the band to launch independent music and take the band's experiences to work on her art.

What happened to Selena Gomez and The Scene?

Selena Gomez and The Scene released three albums in the time that they were together. Their first release was Kiss & Tell in 2009, followed by A Year Without Rain in 2010 and When the Sun Goes Down in 2011. They also composed Radio Disney-friendly singles, including hits such as Love You Like a Love Song and Who Says. Selena Gomez and The Scene were also rewarded with various Teen Choice Awards from 2010 to 2012.

After the band's separation in 2012, Selenators were left to wonder about the reason and if they separated on a bitter note. Like many curious fans, a question was posed to Gomez when she was on Ask Anything Chat.

Gomez read the user name (Sally from Lexington) and the question:

"What happened to The Scene?"

The Come And Get It singer was candid about the separation and revealed,

"That to me was a very specific time in my life."

Selena Gomez continued to explain in the video that during her time with the band, she was only a teenager but yet wrote songs that depicted mature life experiences. She elaborated further:

"I think if you're 14, 15, 16 and you're trying to sing about situations in life that you haven't experienced, I don't really know if that qualifies you as an artist, if I'm being honest with you."

Selena Gomez reflected on her time with The Scene and expressed her gratitude for being able to learn from her bandmates. She said:

"It helped me to have people who were older around me that helped guide me, and inspired me and pushed me."

While the Rare singer learned a lot from her bandmates' experiences, she decided that it was time to chart her own path. Selena Gomez concluded by saying:

"There was a moment when I felt like I could do it and I wanted to try it on my own."

Where are The Scene members now?

Like Selena Gomez, the other bandmates continued to venture into music. Here is what they have been up to:

1) Greg Garman, Drums

The original drummer of The Scene has continued to work with various artists over the years, including Becky G, Grace Wanderwall, and many more. Garman recently played his set with American singer, LP.

2) Joey Clement, Bass

Joey continued to make music and is also a self-proclaimed champagne connoisseur.

3) Ethan Roberts, Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals

From one of his songs being played in the series Grey's Anatomy to touring with Katy Perry, Roberts has been active in the music industry. He also shares glimpses of his experiences on social media, including playing the saxophone.

4) Dane Forrest, Keys

Like his team members, Dane Forrest has continued to perform with various artists. His most recent performance was with singer, Drew Baldridge.

Selena Gomez's journey from starring in a band to becoming a solo superstar, actress, and beauty brand owner has been a series of achievements. While the singer credited her bandmates' experiences in shaping her own, she recognized it was time to become an individual artist.
