On July 23, 2024, Cardi B responded to a netizen who shared a video of himself trolling the rapper and fake spitting on her wax mannequin at a museum. The netizen was allegedly a Nicki Minaj fan who pretended to talk to Cardi's mannequin and said, "Nobody likes you," before fake spitting on it.
One of Cardi's fan pages posted the video alongside a screenshot of the same man following the rapper on Instagram, captioning it "for the internet vs real life." Cardi retweeted the fan page's tweet on July 24, 2024, with the caption:
"But when I said be a BOY"
This statement led to a mixed response from fans. While some supported her for standing up for herself, others alleged that she was being homophobic. However, Cardi denied the accusations and replied to one of the accusing tweets by saying:
"Stop wit the fake homophobia bu****it .Im not homophobic...I wouldn’t allow no straight man buck on me ever ! If you suck d**k like me you not buckin on me neither and that’s just that!”
She also mentioned that she doesn't care what the internet user's gender preferences are and clarified her issue was with a grown adult spitting at her wax figure.
Netizen who spat on Cardi B's wax statue accused Offset of infidelity
The netizen who spat on Cardi B's wax mannequin tweeted another photo hours later alongside Nicki Minaj's wax statue. In the now-deleted tweet's caption, the alleged Nicki Minaj fan replied to Cardi's "Be a boy" comment by saying, "Be a Mother Be a Wife".
The alleged Minaj fan also mentioned that Cardi B shouldn't be worried about him being a boy when her husband Offset has been "messing with ladies with sticks," accusing the rapper's husband of infidelity. The internet user ended his tweet by proclaiming that Nicki Minaj is better, which Cardi did not address in her response despite having a history of feuds with Minaj.
This is not the first time Cardi B has used the "Be a boy" statement. On July 10, 2024, the Up rapper responded to a fan's speculation on whether Cardi was pregnant via X Spaces. The rapper responded by saying:
“BE A BOY… I DON’T GIVE A F**K IF YOU TAKE D**K MORE THAN ME.”
This statement also ignited allegations of the rapper being homophobic, which Cardi did not clarify until the recent incident wherein she used the same phrase.
Besides giving it back to critics and trolls on social media, Cardi B also indulges in banter with fans to address rumors.
In a recent instance on July 7, 2024, Cardi B took to X to respond to a fan who asked the rapper if she was "perganant" to which she jokingly replied, "No, I'm not perganant" making for a fun banter liked by her fans.
