On September 7, musician Cedric Bixler-Zavala took to Instagram to criticize Linkin Park following their official confirmation of brand-new co-lead vocalist Emily Armstrong. The Mars Volta frontman tagged the nu-metal band in the caption of his Instagram post by writing:
“You should fire your entire team for not thoroughly vetting your choice. You’re a Disney-level brand trying to make a comeback and you didn’t think to spend a little money on looking into her? Stop playing at the drive-in’s music on your pre-show playlist.”
Cedric Bixler-Zavala also slammed Emily Armstrong for being an alleged member of the Church of Scientology and seemingly being friends with the likes of former actor and convicted r*pist Danny Masterson, his ex-wife Bijoux Phillips, and half-sister Alana Masterson.
His statement comes in the wake of Emily Armstrong's response to severe online criticism for showing up in court during the Danny Masterson trial in 2023.
“Several years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend at a court appearance, and went to one early hearing as an observer. Soon after, I realized I shouldn’t have. I always try to see the good in people, and I misjudged him. I have never spoken with him since. Unimaginable details emerged and he was later found guilty,” her Instagram Story read.
Notably, Cedric Bixler-Zavala’s recent backlash of the former Dead Sara member was accompanied by a similar criticism from his actress-model wife Chrissie Carnell Bixler-Zavala, which was shared on his post’s text image. Chrissie was one of the accusers of Danny Masterson, who received a not-guilty verdict.
Exploring Cedric Bixler-Zavala’s latest statement on Emily Armstrong
Over the weekend, Cedric Bixler-Zavala issued a lengthy statement amid Emily Armstrong’s confirmation as the new co-lead singer of Linkin Park, alongside Mike Shinoda, seven years after Chester Bennington’s demise. The De Facto member condemned the Pleasure to Meet You songstress via a social media post where he mentioned how Danny Master and his Scientology associates reportedly tried to “intimidate” and “harass” his accusers.
“Emily, did you know that your friend Chris Wadhams and Danny would drive by one of the Jane Does very slowly, after a f*cked-up day of cross-examinations, and follow her in their car, staring at her trying to intimidate her? I do,” he began.
Cedric Bixler-Zavala further continued by writing:
“Did you know that Alana Masterson would hide in the bathrooms after one of the Jane Does had a massive panic attack on the stand and proceeded to harass her in the bathroom calling her a liar? What, you didn’t hear about that? Did your parents shield you from that? Your OSA parents. Or were you cool with that? Doesn’t your church call that the fair game policy?”
The Redwood City native accused Emily Armstrong of “hanging out” with Masterson’s former spouse Bijoux “Nasal Queef” Phillips “just a couple of days ago,” and reminded her that even though Phillips “divorced” Danny, she was aware of his wrongdoings.
Cedric then went on to claim that Bijoux read out his wife’s police report in a “mocking post” online and made a scene when That ‘70s Show actor was first arrested. He also claimed that others were aware of Masterson’s ex-wife’s “past behavior,” and Emily should make herself aware of the same.
“That is of course if the church allows you to read about her. They do have a policy about reading anything critical of the church and its members. Your church also has a bad snitching culture where u write knowledge reports on fellow members who are not ‘following’ the teachings of L Ron Hubbard,” he added.
He wrapped up by saying that it was the first anniversary of putting Danny Masterson behind bars for three decades to life on two r*pe counts, accusing Armstrong of posting a vague “apology” which was “worded as if you hired some PR crisis team to help you,” and not directly addressing the victims.
Cedric Bixler-Zavala even slammed Linkin Park for not “vetting” their new member properly despite being a hugely popular band.
Before his lengthy statement, the Mexican-American artist shared another post on the platform. In it, he took the disguise of a masked man and sang along to the tune of the English rock band The Smiths’ popular 1986 song Bigmouth Strikes Again from the album The Queen Is Dead.
In the video post, Cedric Bixler-Zavala said, “Bigmouth strikes again, and I could give a sh*t what the f*ck you all didn’t believe in the first place because I f*cking told you.”
Notably, this is not the first time the 49-year-old singer and lyricist has called out Emily Armstrong. Earlier, when reports first emerged that she attended the preliminary trial of Danny Masterson in 2023, Cedric took to Dead Sara’s official Instagram account and slammed the band and its co-founder.
Later, Cedric Bixler-Zavala posted the comment on his Instagram Stories which recently resurfaced after Emily Armstrong’s appointment by Linkin Park. In it, Bixler-Zavala asked whether The Emptiness Machine singer showed entitlement and ignorance as she was “born in Scientologist” and blasted her for her alleged ties to Danny Masterson.
