On October 21, 2024, American rapper Jelly Roll took to X to express his discontent with the social media platform. In his tweet, the rapper called X "the most toxic negative app to exist ever" and mentioned:
"This place is different man, I always heard it was the Wild West on here but man it’s insane . It’s a safe place for everyone to say mean s**t to each other with no consequences. I’m out lol"
While Jelly Roll didn't mention a particular reason or instance for calling the social media platform toxic and negative, his tweet garnered a lot of traction. Internet users were quick to react to the rapper's tweet and expressed their opinions on the same.
Commenting on the Wild Ones rapper following the wrong people, an X user tweeted:
"You're following the wrong people"
"If you follow the right people.. it’s great. It’s just like life, your choice on who you surround yourself with." an X user stated.
"Country music artist gets feelings hurt and let’s social media trolls win… That isn’t very country in my opinion Toughen up buttercup" another X user mentioned.
"this is the best of the worst, good luck with anything else haha" an internet user commented.
"It's free speech my guy. The good the bad and the ugly. I would rather have it this way." an X user said.
Moreover, some internet users also encouraged Jelly Roll to stay on the social media platform:
"Don't leave. That would be letting "them" win. I'm not even sure what or who has you upset here, but I like the fact that I was able to tell you I was a fan of your music and think that you might've seen it here." an X user commented.
"Don't let them get to you. You've got plenty of fans on here as well. Ignore them and let them yell into the void. That'll drive them crazy because they can't get the attention they so desperately need." another X user tweeted.
"I really want to have a conversation with them" — Jelly Roll expresses desire to meet victims of armed robbery he was arrested for
On October 14, 2024, Jelly Roll appeared on Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast wherein he talked about being arrested for an armed robbery that took place when he was 15 years old.
Commenting on how he hopes to make amends with victims of the armed robbery, the Save Me rapper stated:
"I really want to have a conversation with them. I've thought about reaching out. This has been 24 years ago now. And I just don't know how that would even start — you know, how I would go about it — because sometimes I wonder if they might have even seen me in passing or are aware of my success."
The rapper also talked about his mentality at the time of committing the robbery and said that he was accountable regardless of how old he was because he had "no business taking from anybody". Jelly Roll stated that it was the entitlement he had wherein he thought the world owed him enough so that he could come and take stuff from others.
In April 2024, Jelly Roll's wife Bunny Xo talked about the rapper getting off the internet during an episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast. She said that he was tired of being bullied about his weight and that he might not show it to the audience but it hurts him.
