Rapper Meek Mill took to the social media platform X on September 24, 2024, and announced that he’s willing to spend $100,000 to recruit a team that can acquire “specific detail” involving his name in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing federal case.
“I wanna hire an investigative team [with] 100k cash to find out every specific detail involving Meek Mill's name to ‘Diddy’ Case…. I also want them to look at who is powering the media involving ‘Meek’ anything to do with buddy! ‘Something not right,’” the Philadelphia native wrote.
Amid Meek Mill’s now-viral post, in which he raised concern and frustration over his name being dragged into the Diddy scandal, the internet is having varied reactions. For instance, X user @quizure commented directly on Mill’s tweet using an image of the rapper from one of Diddy’s alleged pool parties.
“Meek, you're literally your own star witness,” the person captioned his comment.
Many others joined the conversation and shared similar reactions, reminding Meek that he was himself accountable for his situation.
“Bro, it's your antics. It's you! You're the one powering that narrative. Now Cashapp me my 100k,” a person wrote.
“Bro, bouta incriminate himself,” one person wrote.
“This is the tweet you send when you’re guilty of everything,” wrote another.
Others made fun of Meek Mill and asked him for the money, claiming they already knew the story.
“Man, give me the 100k, it doesn’t take an investigator to tell you why this is happening,” a netizen wrote.
“I will take this on, Meek. 50k upfront, another 50k upon deliverables,” another netizen wrote.
"Ohhh, trust and believe there’s already an investigative team on it, so keep your money man," a user wrote.
Meanwhile, some suggested that the Dreams and Nightmares rapper use that money to get a lawyer.
“Let me say what you really mean. ‘I need to hire a lawyer to prepare my defense,’” one follower wrote.
“They already doing that buddy just be patient," a follower wrote.
Besides the tweet in question, Meek Mill also shared a follow-up post on X where he mentioned how he was not worried about the “streets,” but rather how the rumors linking his name to Diddy’s would affect his “business.”
“The streets know wassup with me, that's not the case… We [are] talking about the business side, somebody powering these bad campaigns with ‘Meek mill’ again. I got 100k for a thorough investigation of who’s powering and how exactly my name connects to this…” the 37-year-old wrote.
Exploring Meek Mill’s alleged connection to Diddy’s case
Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested by the FBI on September 16, on three felony charges, including racketeering conspiracy, s*x trafficking by force or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution, as mentioned in a grand jury indictment.
The following day, he appeared before a judge at the Manhattan Federal Court where he was denied bail after prosecutors argued that he was a “serious flight risk.” However, he pled “not guilty,” and was denied bail, once again. Currently, he is being held under a suicide watch at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center reportedly until the beginning of his trial. If convicted, he is looking up to 15 years to life in federal prison.
In the wake of Diddy’s arrest, an NSFW audio recording featuring Meek Mill and the Bad Boys Record mogul surfaced online. While the authenticity of the clip remains unverified, it garnered severe traction online. In response to the queries and backlash he earned, Meek Mill took to X and slapped back with a series of posts.
In one, he shared a screen recording of his notifications on the platform and captioned it:
"My voice so powerful as a black man from the ghetto worldwide they want it gone! Ima real king straight out the trenches under control of no human… they learned how to damage 'can’t stop us' of brands from bots and campaigns like politicians!"
In the follow-up posts, Meek Mill claimed that a conspiracy was in the making against him where devices were being “manipulated,” emphasizing he was not involved in it. He also shed light on his humble beginnings and how he did “good” for his community and dismissed the rumors of him being “gay.”
"The two things they say… we snitching or we gay… we generating hundreds of millions from music it’s not a coincidence we all gay and snitches," the Expensive Pain rapper mocked.
For those unaware, Meek Mill’s name came up earlier this year when former videographer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones filed a $30 million s*xual harassment and assault lawsuit against Diddy. While Meek was not directly named in the civil suit, an excerpt from the court documents obtained by XXL Magazine and DJ Akademiks confirmed the sentence:
“Mr. Combs informed Mr. Jones that he engaged in s*xual intercourse with rapper [5] (REDACTED), R&B singer [6] (REDACTED), and Stevie J.”
Notably, the footnote for number 5 read, “He is a Philadelphia rapper who dated Nicki Minaj.” As Mill’s native place and dating history matched the description, people online speculated that it was Meek who was indirectly mentioned in the lawsuit. Ever since the Dream Chasers Records founder has denied the allegations.
