The 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, featuring only NHL players, will be held from February 12–20, 2025. Teams from Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States will play in a round-robin format, with the top two teams meeting in the final. The tournament replaces the NHL All-Star Game for 2025.

The event was announced at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game by Commissioner Gary Bettman, who also confirmed future NHL participation in the 2026 Winter Olympics and upcoming World Cups of Hockey. Russia was excluded due to its ban from international competition, and Czechia did not participate due to limited time for planning.

According to USA Hockey, the USA’s 4 Nation Face-Off schedule includes games against Finland on February 13 at 8:00 p.m. ET, and Canada on February 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET, both at Montreal’s Bell Centre. They face Sweden on February 17 at 8:00 p.m. ET at Boston’s TD Garden. The championship game is on February 20 at 8:00 p.m. ET at TD Garden.

4 Nation Face-Off USA Captain

According to USA Hockey, Auston Matthews has been named captain of Team USA for the 4 Nations Face-Off. Matthew Tkachuk and Charlie McAvoy will serve as alternate captains. Matthews, captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has won gold at the 2014 and 2015 IIHF Under-18 World Championships. The 4 Nations Face-Off will take place from February 12-20, featuring the U.S., Canada, Finland, and Sweden.
