San Jose Sharks have traded their No. 14 overall pick and No. 42 overall pick to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for the No. 11 overall pick in the upcoming NHL draft. NHL insider Frank Seravalli broke the news on X (formerly Twitter).

"Sharks announce they’ve moved up three picks in the draft: To Sharks: No. 11 overall To Sabres: No. 14 overall, No. 42 overall."

The trade has stirred excitement and speculation among NHL fans, with many expressing their opinions on the Sharks' strategy.

"Probably hoping to get a high-end defenseman to go with Celebrini," One fan said, referencing the Sharks' potential interest in pairing a top-tier blueliner with number one prospect Macklin Celebrini.
"Why do teams trade up before the draft you don’t even know who will be available," another fan said.
"Eiserman is Plan B, they’re making a play for Buium. If Zeev falls to 7 or 8 GMMG will package 11+33 to move up," one fan said.

A few fans had questions regarding the trade.

"Why would they do this when the team in front of them at 10 is actively looking to flip that pick for a player. Isn't there a strong risk of someone cutting in front of them and grabbing a player they love?" a fan inquired.
"Why do teams trade up before the draft you don’t even know who will be available," a fan asked.

A fan didn't like this trade.

"For a team that’s super far away from being competitive, this is a bad move. If the pick comes up and your guy is there, then sure but that is far from a guarantee," one fan said.

San Jose Sharks moved up to the 11th pick in the NHL draft to strengthen their defense

The NHL draft is starting tomorrow. The San Jose Sharks traded picks 14 and 42 to move up to the 11th spot. They used a pick from a previous trade for Erik Karlsson and another from trading Timo Meier to make this move. San Jose plans to draft Macklin Celebrini first overall.

General Manager Mike Grier wants to target a specific player with their new pick. According to a mock draft, defenseman Zeev Buium is expected to go to the Philadelphia Flyers at No. 12. San Jose is looking to strengthen their defense with this draft.
