Abigail aka Abby Tamer is an American field hockey forward representing the U.S. National Team. Born on July 9, 2003, she plays for the University of Michigan, majoring in applied exercise science. Abby has quickly made a name for herself on the international stage, starting with her role on the U.S. U-21 team, where she earned 13 caps and scored four goals.

She has achieved significant success with the senior national team as well. She won a gold medal at the 2023 Junior Pan American Championship in Barbados, where she was named Most Valuable Player. Abby also secured a silver medal at the 2024 FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier and another silver at the 2023 Pan American Games. Additionally, she achieved two bronze medals at the 2022 Uniphar 5-Nations Tournament and the 2021 Junior Pan American Championship. Abby is the daughter of former ice hockey player Chris Tamer and Keely Tamer. Abby initially played soccer and ice hockey with her siblings but at the age of 12 years, she ventured into field hockey. Her parents encouraged her to try different sports.

Abby is the daughter of Chris and Keely Tamer. She grew up alongside her two siblings Emma and Christopher Tamer. Abby’s father is a former professional ice hockey player who played in the NHL for 11 years with the Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, and Atlanta Thrashers. Her mother Keeley also pursued field hockey at the University of Michigan from 1989-93. Despite coming from a hockey-loving family, Abby started field hockey in the seventh grade. She attended the National Field Hockey Festival in California with her mom and sister, Emma, as her brother was competing in the ice hockey tournament.

Initially, Abby did not share the same passion for hockey as his family but after her first full season, she became fully committed to the sport. She slowly progressed and became an active participant in the Dexter field hockey community and USA Field Hockey programs. Abby joined the Dexter High School field hockey team in 2017 and played there till 2021.

He also played in the NHL for almost 11 seasons from 1993 to 2005 with the likes of the Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, and Atlanta Thrashers. Chris owns Crossfit Brighton gym where he also trains.
