Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Andre Levrone started dating in 2020 after the former NFL player slid into the Olympic champion’s DMs. A year later, Andre proposed to McLaughlin-Levrone in a scenic setting and the world champion didn't hesitate to say 'yes', even claiming that she had seen Jesus in him.
Sydney and Andre met in 2020 via Instagram DMs. The 400m hurdles world record holder revealed in her book "Far Beyond Gold: Running from Fear to Faith" that she had posted a selfie with the caption ‘attention’ in reply to which the former NFL player sent a cheeky DM.
“You have my attention. How can I get yours?” he wrote.
The duo eventually ended up dating and found many similarities, the biggest of which was their love for God. The couple has been vocal about their relationship with God and some of the religious qualities in Andre impressed the Olympic gold medalist.

Following their engagement in August 2021, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone posted a sweet note for her fiance on Instagram. Heaping praise on Andre, the four-time Olympic gold medalist wrote:
"Dear future husband, Till this day I still can’t comprehend how someone who possesses everything I’ve prayed for, has finally come into my life. Our growth together exceeds what the dates on a calendar show. I fall in love with you more and more each day off of the strength of your faith."
The 25-year-old added that she had seen Jesus in Andre helping her love him.
"Andre, you are the most God-fearing, passionate, honest, loving, hard working, protective, and genuine man I’ve ever met. I see Jesus in you. And as a result it makes you so easy to love. I truly did not know the definition of love until I met you; a sacrificial choice to lay down your life for the well being of another. With that being said, there is no one I’d rather lay down my life for. The calling God has on our lives goes far beyond our love for one another. This union will impact lives for His kingdom, and that’s what excites me most. I have no fear. I will keep my eyes on you, as you keep your eyes on Him. You’re the perfect man to lead me, and I cannot wait to follow," she added.
Andre Levrone was a successful NFL wide receiver before retiring in 2019.
