Andy Benesh is a professional beach volleyball player, who was a first-team All-American in high school and was a member of the Volleyball Magazine’s Fab 50 list. His passion for Volleyball began at the Palos Verdes High School sand courts, where the training for the indoor team during the offseason took place.
He shifted to the beach after playing indoors at USC in 2018, where he played with his friend and high school partner Cole Fiers. Benesh fell in love with the sport, as soon as they qualified for two AVP Main Draws. He is currently partnered with beach volleyball player Miles Partain and will be representing the US with him on the Olympics stage in Paris.
He was added to the roster of the US Beach Volleyball Team for the 2024 Summer Games on Monday, June 10. Benesh and Partain are currently the fourth-ranked pair in the world with 7,100 points in the men’s competition.
Apart from this, Benesh has accomplished multiple accolades throughout his career. He won a bronze medal in the 2014 NORCECA Men’s U21 Continental Championship and a silver in the 2015 NORCECA Pan American Cup and in 2021 FIVC Cancun, he made his international debut. In 2022, he competed in various events, such as the 2022 BPT Songkhla Espin, where he won a silver medal, the 2022 BPT Dubai Challenge No.1, where he won gold with his partner Miles Partain, and there were several more competitions.
In 2023, he won multiple medals in several competitions. He won a gold in the 2023 Gstaad Elite 16 alongside Partain, he also nabbed a silver in the 2023 Montreal Elite 16, another silver in the NORCECA Punta Cana, and a bronze in the 2023 Ostrava Elite 16. Benesh won another bronze in the 2023 NORCECA Beach Final. Now, he will be competing in the Paris Olympics, which is slated for July 26 to August 11.
