Erik Thomas Shoji was born to the couple Dave Shoji and Mary Shoji on August 24, 1989. Erik Shoji is an American professional volleyball player, who performs as a libero for ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle and the U.S. national team. Shoji stands 6ft and weighs 165lb.

From 2009- 2012, Shoji attended Standford University, where he began his volleyball career. In 2010, With Standford, Shoji won the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship. In 2013, Shoji, enrolled in the senior national team and earned the gold medal with the team at NORCECA Championship. Shoji has represented the U.S. on the Men’s Collegiate National Team. In his Junior career, Shoji performed in the Boy’s Youth National Team and Men’s Junior National Team.

Dave Shoji, a retired American sports coach, is Erik Shoji’s father. Dave Shoji was the head coach of the University of Hawai’i Volleyball team at Manoa Rainbow Wahine from 1975 to 2017. With his training, the Rainbow Wahine earned four national titles in 1979, 1982,1982,1987.

Dave was born on December 4, 1946. He was a baseball player at UC Santa Barbara in 1967, then enrolled in Men’s Volleyball at UC Santa Barbara, where he performed as the team’s setter and earned All-American honors in the 1968 and 1969 seasons. In 1975-2016, Dave started coaching at Women’s Volleyball in Hawaii. In 1979-1985, he instructed in Men’s Volleyball at Hawaii. 2013 on September 6, he recorded 1,107-185-1, which converts to a winning percentage of 85.7%. He became the top coach in Division I women’s Volleyball history with 1,107 wins and broke the record formerly held by former UCLA head coach Andy Banachowski. The team that received instruction from Dave is well-known for having skilled ball management.
