American weightlifter Hampton Morris is the first American in 55 years to set a world record in men’s senior competition. Morris has gained multiple world records and American records as well. The 20-year-old was initially interested in soccer, but at the age of 10, he shifted his focus to becoming a good weightlifter. Morris completed his education at Pope High School and is not admitted to any university as of now.

Along with being No. 2 in the world at 61 kg, he was also the highest-ranked American man heading into the final two Olympic qualifiers. He has clinched seven gold medals in total for the U.S. and is also a 3-time World Champion medalist with 1 junior gold, 1 senior gold, and 1 youth gold. In the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships, Morris became the first American to clinch a gold medal at a World Championship since 1972.

He had set eight new American records at the 2024 European Championships in Bulgaria and also qualified for the Paris Olympics. Along with this, he will be the youngest American male weightlifter at the Olympics since 2000. He qualified for the Summer Games after he broke the senior and junior clean and jerk world records. His current American records are in various weight categories, such as 61 kg (senior, youth, junior), 67 kg (senior, junior), 44 kg youth, and 55 kg youth.
