Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall are one of the well-known couples on track and field. A two-time Olympian, Tara Woodhall is an accomplished track and field athlete with remarkable milestones. She clinched the gold medal in long jump at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Meanwhile, her husband Hunter Woodhall also established himself as a standout athlete with silver medals in the 200m T44 at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships and the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. In 2017, the two met at a high school track, where Tara Davis-Woodhall noticed Hunter but didn't know who he was until the announcer mentioned his birthday. Tara instinctively approached him, causing the two to meet for the first time.
Their connection grew through social media over time. The Paris Olympics gold medalist initiated the conversation after noticing Hunter's late-night tweet. Recalling the moment in an episode of the Beyond the Records podcast on January 2, 2025, Tara Woodhall said:
"I followed him on social media, he followed me on social media, he was tweeting one night, and I was like, 'aren't you supposed to be in bed?' He's like,'I was waiting for your response.' Ever since then, we have not stopped talking," she said (12:05 onwards).
Further in the podcast, the couple shared how they traveled to see each other in the summer before college. Based in Los Angeles, Tara often drove to San Diego and visit Hunter, who had relocated to the Olympic Training Center. Meanwhile, Woodhall would take the train to LA to spend time with her.

The couple announced their engagement in September 2021 after five years of dating. Hunter Woodhall proposed to Tara Davis-Woodhall during a romantic vacation in Cabo San Luca, Mexico.
In an Instagram post in October 2021, the paralympic champion expressed his deep commitment to his future wife, vowing to always support, provide for, and love her. Highlighting the positive impact Tara had on his life, Hunter reflected on their five years together and wrote:
"To my future wife, I promise to always be there for you, I promise to always provide for you, I promise to always love you, You make me a better person, and I can’t imagine a life without you. Thank you for trusting, supporting, and loving me the last 5 years. here’s to the rest of our lives. P.S. the last pic is my relief from getting a yes haha."
When did they get married?
Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall married in October 2022 at D'Vine Grace Vineyard in Texas. A year later, in October of 2023, they celebrated their one-year anniversary with a heartfelt note on Instagram.
In a social media post, the couple expressed how quickly time passed and also mentioned the valuable lessons they've learned about each other.
