Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone once opened up about the benefits of being a "godly woman" for her husband Andre Levrone, who she also called a "godly man." The Olympic champion also stated that such a relationship was rare in today's world of modern feminism where people wanted to be independent.
McLaughlin-Levrone married Andre, a former NFL player, in 2022 after two years of dating. While their relationship started with an Instagram DM, what got the couple together was their shared love for Christ.
The four-time Olympic champion told The Knot in 2022 that during the start of their relationship, Andre asked her to do Bible study with him, and it was the moment she knew he was the man for her. The couple would exchange rings in 2021, shortly after McLaughlin-Levrone won her maiden Olympic gold medal, and less than a year later, they exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony.
Speaking with Sadie Robertson on the "Whoa That's Good" podcast in November 2022, the New Jersey native opened up about her relationship with Andre.
“We are only six months in but I can see so much already just the fruit of our marriage and the union that we have, which like you said, it's rare these days. People wanna be independent, especially the modern age of feminism and stuff that we live in but there's such a beauty to understanding your role as a godly woman for your husband who's a godly man. It'll leave you out of so much tension that the world brings.”
McLaughlin-Levrone also credited her husband for guiding her spiritually, which she said led her to the rewards she was reaping in her marriage.
When Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone opened up on relaxing after Paris Olympics success with husband Andre Levrone in Greece
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone was at her best during the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning her second consecutive 400m hurdles Olympic title while betteriong her world record for a fifth time. She went on to run one of the fastest 4x400m relay splits in history to help USA women's team defend their title.
Following the Games, McLaughlin-Levrone went on a week-long trip to Greece with husband Andre Levrone to celebrate her success, and birthday, which was on August 7th, couple of days before the Olympics ended. She said (via Today.com),
“It was great just to have a moment to breathe after that [the wins at Paris Olympics], and soak it all in. You know my husband's in a seminary, so he had to get back to school, and then I had to finish up my season, so to take that week for ourselves, it was beyond beautiful, and we were sad to come home.”
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone later concluded her season at the Brussels Diamond League, winning the 200m and the 400m Invitational races on successive days.
