Jackie Dubrovich, born July 18, 1994, in Paterson, New Jersey, is an American foil fencer. She stands 5'9" tall and weighs 145 lbs. Dubrovich began fencing when she was 8, citing her "awkwardly lanky self" as the reason for choosing the sport. A graduate of Columbia University (2016) with degrees in psychology, human rights, and Russian literature and culture, she is a three-time first-team All-American and winner of three NCAA tournament medals and two-team NCAA titles.

Dubrovich's international achievements include a silver medal (team) at the 2022 World Championships, a bronze medal (team) at the 2019 World Championships, and participation in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she finished 4th in team foil and 21st in individual foil. She has also won multiple medals in junior and cadet world championships. As of 2024, Dubrovich has qualified for her second Olympic Games in Paris.

Jackie Dubrovich Coach

Brian Kaneshige is the primary coach for Jackie Dubrovich. He is not only her coach but also her fiancé. Kaneshige is a former fencer himself. He competed on the World Cup circuit and achieved notable success, including being a two-time medalist in Senior Men's Foil.

In October 2022, he joined New York University as a men's and women's assistant fencing coach. In his first season, he helped lead the Violets to a 17th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.

Amateur and College Career

Before taking on his coaching career, Kaneshige was a successful fencer himself. He attended Harvard University, graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies.

During his time at Harvard, he was a four-year member of the Crimson's fencing team. His collegiate achievements include being a four-time All-American, a two-time First Team All-Ivy League honoree, and a member of three Ivy League Championship teams. In his senior year (2014-15), he was also the team co-captain.

Professional Career

After his college career, Kaneshige turned to coaching. His most notable role is as the personal coach of Jackie Dubrovich. Under his coaching, Dubrovich has achieved significant success, including qualifying for the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games.

In October 2022, Kaneshige joined New York University as a men's and women's assistant fencing coach. In his first season, the men's team posted a 14-13 match record, marking their eighth straight winning season.

He coached a considerable amount of fencers to success which led them to receive honors, including Ian Adler and Farr Dickson, who were named USFCA Division III Athletes of the Year in their respective weapons.

He served directly under the late Buckie Leach in assisting Team USA foil in their preparation for the 2021 Olympics. Currently, he supports the U.S. National Coaching Staff.
