Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone once revealed that she felt like God had given her a new life after a life-changing phone call with her husband Andre Levrone which changed the way she looked at things. The couple got married in 2022 after two years of dating.
McLaughlin-Levrone recounted the incident in her 2024 memoir 'Far Beyond Gold: Running From Fear To Faith', and revealed that she and Andre had decided to take a break in their relationship during their dating life before the former NFL player asked to call her for two minutes.
"Three days after Andre and I agreed to take a break from our relationship, he asked if we could have a two-minute phone call, just to share a few thoughts and encourage each other. Forty-five minutes later, we were no longer on a break," she wrote
The four-time Olympic champion added that they had a 'fulfilling' conversation, which changed her perspective towards life and revived their relationship after 45 minutes.
"Our conversation was even more fulfilling than before because it made sense. The lens through which I viewed life had shifted, and with that, so did our relationship. I can look back and know for sure this was the best thing that has ever happened to me. Jesus had given me a new life. What that looked like, I didn’t yet know. But I knew everything had changed," Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone added.
Earlier in the memoir, the 25-year-old revealed that just after they had decided to take a break, they attended a sermon together where she realized God could forgive her actions from the past, setting her free of the burden of her sins to start a new life.
"As I listened to the sermon, I finally understood that God could completely and permanently cleanse me from past wrongs and clothe me in his righteousness. It was the most beautiful realization of my life," she wrote.
The couple shortly got engaged after their reunion and tied the knot in a romantic ceremony at the Early Mountain Vineyards in Madison, Virginia.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone explains why she and husband Andre didn't live together before marriage
After their engagement in 2021, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and her husband Andre Levrone started living together in an apartment in Los Angeles. However, the couple decided to live apart till marriage, claiming that they wanted to protect their sexual purity and follow the teachings of the Bible.
"Most people in this modern world don’t have a problem with sharing a bed or sleeping together before marriage. But Andre and I had committed to saving both of those things until our wedding day," she mentioned.
"From the beginning of our relationship, Andre and I both confessed that we had fallen short in the past when it came to our sexual purity. We wanted to ensure that we honored God by following what the Bible teaches about relationships between men and women," Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone wrote in the afore-mentioned memoir.
McLaughlin-Levrone has been vocal about her deep connection with faith and isn't even afraid of losing her sponsorships because of it while Andre is studying at a seminary and aspires to become a pastor in the future.
