Katherine Elizabeth Vibert, born on January 5, 1999, is a well-known American weightlifter competing in the 71 kg category. Originally a gymnast, she switched to weightlifting during high school and quickly became a top-ranked athlete in multiple weight classes.


Katherine's achievements include a Bronze medal at the 2019 Pan American Games and three Gold medals at the 2019 World Championships. She further earned a Silver medal in the 76 kg category at the Tokyo Olympics. Beyond her athletic pursuits, Katherine is also dedicated to her education, taking online classes to attend medical school.

Katherine Vibert attended Rochester Adams High School in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She started her athletic journey in high school. She began as a successful gymnast where she reached level 9, but her path changed when she had a serious ACL injury. To recover physically and mentally, she joined a CrossFit program with a friend. This experience sparked her love for weightlifting.


Kate practiced every day, working hard to improve her form and strength. Her dedication paid off when she placed third at youth nationals. Her success gave her the confidence to leave CrossFit and focus entirely on weightlifting. With the help of a coach, Kate kept getting better and eventually became the top weightlifter in the U.S. in several weight classes.

Kate Vibert has achieved many impressive accomplishments in weightlifting. She won a Silver medal at the 2020 Olympics and was named to the USA Weightlifting Olympic Team in 2021. In 2019, she became a three-time Senior World Champion, a Junior World Champion, and a Senior Pan American Champion, setting a Pan American record in snatch and overall total.

She also earned a Bronze medal at the 2019 Pan American Games and received the "Best Lifter Award" at the US Nationals. In 2018, Kate won a Silver medal at the Junior World Championships and became a National Champion.


In 2021, she competed at the 2020 Olympics in the women's 76 kg event, winning a silver medal. This was the highest achievement for an American weightlifter since 2000. Her success continued as she won the silver medal in the women's 71 kg event at the 2023 Pan American Weightlifting Championships in Bariloche, Argentina. In 2023, she finished 5th in the women's 71 kg event at the World Weightlifting Championships conducted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.


Outside of weightlifting, Kathrine is dedicated to her studies. She attended Oakland University and earned a Bachelors Degree in Science. Apart from science and weightlifting, Katherine works as a Regional Sales Associate at Stryker, based in Atlanta, Georgia. She hopes to study at Hillsdale College or the University of Michigan.
