Brian Cook, born on June 1, 1992, in Santa Cruz, California, is a volleyball player. His sister Karissa was a setter for Stanford's women's volleyball team and played sand volleyball at Hawai'i and he also has a younger brother, Kobi.
Cook's volleyball journey began at Soquel High School where he graduated in 2010. Excelling early, he played for the Bay to Bay Volleyball Club leading the team to an undefeated streak in every NorCal Volleyball Association tournament in 2010. His high school career was decorated with numerous accolades including being named to the All-Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League first team in 2008 and 2009 and earning the SCCAL's Player of the Year title for three consecutive years. Despite an injury that sidelined his senior season, Cook earned himself a spot on Volleyball Magazine’s Fab 50 and ranked No. 8 among ESPN Rise's Top 25 recruits in 2010.
At Stanford University, As a freshman in 2011, Cook played in 24 matches, recording 179 kills. By his sophomore year, he was named to the All-MPSF second team ranking second in the team in kills and points. His junior year saw him rise to first-team All-American status including multiple 24-kill performances. In senior year, he earned AVCA First-Team All-American honors and led his team with a 3.81 kills per set average.
Internationally, Cook represented the United States at the FIVB Junior World Championships in Brazil achieving a historic fourth-place finish. He also played a pivotal role in the U.S. team's victory at the NORCECA Junior Continental Championship in 2010.
