New York City Marathon 2024: Top celebrities participating in the marquee event ft. Casey Neistat, Randall Park

The 2024 New York City Marathon, set to kick off in New York City on November 3, 2024, will mark the 53rd edition of the event. Several athletes and global celebrities will vie for the winner's title and podium finish in the World Marathon Major event.

Defending champion Tamirat Tola will be one of the front runners of the event, following his gold-winning run at the Paris Games in 2:06.26. Joining him will be Hellen Obiri, the Kenyan marathoner with three Olympic medals, and two World medals in her repertoire.

Evans Chabet, the 2022 New York City Marathon title winner and two-time Boston Marathon Champion, will also be a participant to look forward to. Joining him would be two-time Olympic medalist Bashir Abdi and four-time World half marathon champion, Geoffrey Kamworor.

Besides the elite runners, celebrities like Casey Neistat, Randall Park, Nev Schulman, Jack Coyne, Carrie St. Louis, and others, will run at the marquee event.

New York City Marathon 2024: Celebrities to watch out for

#1. Casey Neistat

Casey Neistat, popular American YouTuber and co-founder of multimedia company Beme, will be one of the celebrities to headline the New York City Marathon 2024. In anticipation of the event, Neistat took to his Instagram post to share his 'no waving' strategy to attain victory and said that though he would appreciate waves and cheers on the route, he wouldn't wave back to conserve energy.


#2. Randall Park

Fresh Off The Boat fame Randall Park will also participate in the prestigious World Marathon Major event. The American actor will run for a nonprofit organization, KultureCity, which looks to create and identify spaces that are sensory-inclusive and accessible.


#3. Nev Schulman

American TV host and film producer, Nev Schulman, popular for the documentary film Catfish (2010), is vying to run at the New York City Marathon after suffering a major bike accident earlier this year. After breaking his neck in the accident, the 40-year-old expressed gratitude to have bounced back for another New York marathon run. Schulman's run will be dedicated to Achilles International, which aims to provide to support those with disabilities in participating in athletics-related events and social communities.


#4. Jacob Soboroff

Jacob Soboroff will make his debut at the Marathon event in New York to 'warm up for Election Day coverage', as posted by the NBC News Political and National Correspondent on Instagram. The 41-year-old will support Los Angeles' 501 non-profit organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters.


#5. Jack Coyne

The host and co-creator of the street-side trivia game Public Opinion, Jack Coyne, will join the New York City Marathon roster.


#6. Carrie St. Louis

Stage actor Carrie St. Louis, well-known for her roles as Rose in Titanique, Glinda in Wicked, and Sherrie in Rock of Ages, will be one of the celebrities to root for as well.

Three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas will grace the event as the Grand Marshall of the New York City Marathon.
