2024 World Athletics Junior U20 Championships Lima Results: Medina Eisa and Andrew Alamisi secure top places in 5000m| Day 1

Day 1 of the 2024 World Athletics Junior U20 Championships in Lima Peru featured multiple heats, qualifications, semifinals, and final rounds of track and field events. The 2024 World Athletics Junior U20 Championships is slated from August 27 to 31, 2024 at the Estadio Atlético de la VIDENA, Stadium in San Luis District, Lima.

Day 1 included electrifying showdowns in the final rounds of men's shot put, men's and women's 5000m, and mixed 4x400m relay events. On that note let's take a look at the results of Day 1 of the event.

Results of Day 1 of the 2024 World Athletics Junior U20 Championships

While Medina Eisa and Andrew Alamisi topped the women's and men's 5000m, respectively, on Day 1, with 14:39.71 and 13:41.14, Georg Harpf won the shot put event after throwing a distance of 20.32m.

The Australian squad, consisting of Jordan Gilbert, Bella Pasquali, Jack Deguara, and Sophia Gregorevic defeated the Polish and Chinese squad after clocking a stunning time of 3:19.27. The results of the semifinal and final rounds on Day 1 of the championships is given below.
