Simone Biles was at her best during the women’s gymnastics team finals at the Paris Olympics 2024. The 27-year-old led from the front and came one step closer to her ‘redemption’, securing the gold medal for the US during the last routine of the day.

Biles posted dominant scores on all of the four apparatus. She scored 14.900 on the vault, 14.400 on the uneven bars, 14.366 on the balance beam and 14.666 on the floor exercise. Jordan Chiles and Suni Lee were impressive as well, and so was Jade Carey who competed only on the vault.

The US Women won their fourth gold medal in the team event, and for Biles, it marked her fifth gold overall. They amassed a dominant score of 171.296 to win the gold while Italy finished in second for silver with a score of 165.494. Brazil settled for the bronze medal with a score of 164.497.

#3. Oldest Gymnast to win an Olympic gold medal since 1964

At 27 years old, Simone Biles became the oldest gymnast from any nation and in any event to win a gold medal since 1964. The peak age in gymnastics is 16-20 and the majority of the gymnasts are retired by the age of 25. However, Biles has kept getting better and better and continues to make history in the sport.

#2. Simone Biles tied for most Olympic gold medals by an American gymnast

Biles’ fifth gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 tied her with Anton Heida as the most Olympic Gold medals won by an American gymnast. Heida competed at the 1904 Summer Olympics, where he won five gold medals. Biles is very likely to overtake Heida in the next week with the 27-year-old being a favorite for gold medals in the all-around, vault, and floor competitions.

#1. Most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast of all time

Simone Biles was already the most decorated gymnast of all time with her 37 medals from the Olympics and World Championships. She was tied with Shanon Miller for the most medals won by an American gymnast at the Olympics, and after winning her eighth medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, the 27-year-old is now in a league of her own.
