The U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials will feature numerous experienced swimmers alongside the young and up-and-coming Olympic hopefuls. The most prominent names among the former are two-time Olympian Gabrielle Rose and the six-time Olympic medalist Matt Grevers.

Let's explore more about the top five oldest swimmers that are going to feature at the swimming trials in Indianapolis.

U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials 2024: Oldest qualifiers to feature in Indianapolis

Gabrielle Rose (46 years old)

Gabrielle Rose will be the oldest swimmer to feature at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials. Rose, 46, is a Stanford University graduate and represented the United States at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Rose also clinched gold medals at the 2003 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona (4x100m and 4x200m freestyle).

The 46-year-old qualified for the upcoming trials last year while representing Alpha Aquatics. Rose will compete in the 100m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke events in the Olympic Swimming Team Trials.

Matt Grevers (39 years old)

The four-time Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers is the second name to feature on this list. The 39-year-old swimmer qualified for the trails in the 50m freestyle event last month. The Illinois native is one of the most decorated swimmers in the men's swimming circuit and will look to represent the United States at the upcoming Olympics.

Besides his four Olympic gold medals, Grevers has also clinched six gold medals each at the World Aquatics Championships and World Aquatics Swimming Championships.

Brooke Boak (37 years old)

37-year-old Brooke Boak will compete in the upcoming trials as she looks to book a first-ever Olympic berth. Boak will feature in the 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle events in Indianapolis and is the 24th and 54th seeded swimmer, respectively, in the events.

Boak's top performance this season came at the Westmont Pro Swim Series in which she clocked 25.24s in the 50m freestyle event. This performance also earned her a qualification for the upcoming trials in Indianapolis at the age of 37.

Brandon Fischer (35 years old)

Brandon Fischer, hailing from the University of Wyoming, will also feature at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials in Indianapolis. Even though Fischer hasn't been able to qualify for the Olympics ever in his career, he is an experienced campaigner at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials, having featured in the event five times in his career. He will feature in the 100m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke events next week at the trials.

Fischer's most recent competitive meet came last month at the CA Trojan Aquatics Los Angeles Invitational in which he competed in just the 200m breaststroke event and finished third (2:16.97). Fischer also bagged a top-of-the-podium finish in the 200m breaststroke event in the CA MVN Crippen SMOC in April.

Ashley Twichell (34 years old)

The two-time World Championships gold medalist, Ashley Twichell will be the fifth oldest swimmer to compete at the U.S. Olympic Swimming team trials. Twichell, currently 34, will look to book a berth for the second Olympics in her career and will feature in various events in the trials such as 400m freestyle, 800m freestyle, and 1500m freestyle.

Both of Twichell's golds at the World Championships have come in the open water events and surprisingly, throughout her career, she hasn't emerged victorious in any of the pool events across her career.
