Anna Hall recently shared a glimpse of her 2024 season, reflecting on how it went for her. The American athlete wrapped up the season after competing at the Paris Olympics.
The 2024 Summer campaign did not pan out as expected for the heptathlete, as she fell 92 points short of attaining a podium finish in the event. She started the event on a promising note, as she clocked 13.36s in the women's 100m hurdles and then scored 1.89m in the high jump. After this, she managed a 14.11m shot in the shot put event and finished the 200m event by recording a time of 23.89s.
However, things went in a different direction after she competed in the long jump and the javelin throw. She did her best to come back on pace in the last event, which was the 800m, and even though she succeeded, her total of 6615 points was only good enough for a fifth place finish.
Now, towards the end of the year, Anna Hall has reflected on her season and said that she saw several ups and downs during the course of it. However, she maintained that it was a fun year. She took to her Instagram post and added a carousel of pictures along with the caption:
"Bye 2024 👋🏽 2024 was a lot. a lot of priceless moments (too many to count!), a lot of family, a lot of challenges & growth, but soo much fun. this life is a blessing ❤️ "
Anna Hall opened up about her Paris Olympics campaign
Anna Hall couldn't attain a podium finish in the Paris Olympics, and days after this heartbreak, she made her feelings known about her campaign in an interview with Athletics Weekly. She revealed that she wasn't sure of even making it to the Summer Games earlier this year.
She exuded happiness at making it to the team; however, she also said that she was disappointed about not winning a medal despite trying her best.
“There was a while there where I was even worried about getting to the Olympics. Super happy that we did. And I think as soon as I made the team a switch flipped, like okay how can we try to win. And obviously, that's a very aggressive goal," wrote Anna Hall.
She added:
“I mean that was our expectation and I'm proud of the way I competed, disappointed with the situation. But those are the cards I was dealt. I was heartbroken about that part, but I know I did the best I could.”
She further said:
“I’m kind of torn between my own disappointment at not meeting my own expectations, but being proud of the year that we had and the work that we put in. So yeah, kind of getting torn back and forth between the two, but I'll process it all soon.”
Anna Hall also sustained a knee injury at the beginning of the year that later required surgery.
