Former American swimmer Riley Gaines recently came out in public to express her support for Donald Trump as the next president of the United States. She also urged her compatriots not to vote for Kamala Harris to safeguard their "daughter's future".
Gaines is a retired swimmer who represented the University of Kentucky on the collegiate level, and she was declared the Southeastern Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2022. After bidding adieu to her swimming career, Gaines embarked on a new journey as a political activist, voicing her criticism against the participation of transgender athletes in women's sports.
Riley Gaines' support for Donald Trump, who is running for a second presidential election, is also reportedly driven by her advocacy for female athletes. She was recently invited on Fox News' "Jesse Waters Primetime" to discuss the recent controversy surrounding Imane Khelif's boxing match against Angela Carini, where Gaines not only condemned the former but also warned Americans against voting for Kamala Harris, who is running for America's presidency after Joe Biden opted out of the race against Trump.
She urged the people of the US to vote for Donald Trump for the sake of their daughter's future. Sharing the video of her interview on her X handle (formerly Twitter), Gaines wrote:
"Crickets from Kamala, crickets from the women at ‘The View.’ And if I could implore you, a vote for Kamala is a vote against your daughter's future."
She added:
"Some say they're voting for Kamala because SHE IS a woman, but I'm voting for Trump because I AM a woman."
"Men don't belong in women's sports" - Riley Gaines extends her support to Angela Carini
Riley Gaines extended her support for Angela Carini, an Italian boxer who abandoned her round of 16 bout against Imane Khelif on Thursday at the Paris Olympics. Carini withdrew 46 seconds into the match after she was hit extremely hard on her nose.
Following Carini's withdrawal, Khelif was criticized by fans and sports pundits from all around the world. Riley Gaines also joined the debate and shared her opinion on the matter via her X handle, writing:
"Men don't belong in women's sports #IStandWithAngelaCarini Let's get it trending."
Furthermore, Elon Musk reposted Gaines' tweet to show his support for the 25-year-old Italian boxer.
"Absolutely," Musk wrote.
