Phoenix Sun's Kevin Durant recently praised Simone Biles. The NBA player and the gymnast are both part of the star-studded lineup for the Paris Olympics 2024. Durant has shown support for the four-time Olympic medalist ahead of the Summer Games.
Biles punched her ticket to her third consecutive Olympics at the US gymnastics trials, which were held in Minneapolis. She impressed all the enthusiasts by scoring the highest points (117.225), winning the all-around event, and sealing her spot for Paris. Following this, she was cheered on by LA Lakers star LeBron James, who said (via ESPN):
"She's the best. It's that simple. She's the best. She's an inspiration to my daugher and to all...if you love greatness."
In a similar vein, Kevin Durant, who is poised to participate in his fourth Olympics in Paris, appreciated the grit of Simone Biles. NBC Olympics & Paralympics posted his comment for the gymnast on X, which read:
"Simone is somebody who set the tone for what a champion, an Olympian, a winner in life should be."
Durant also expressed his desire to watch Biles during the Olympics and claimed he has always been a fan of the 27-year-old.
"I was talking to a gymnast the other day and I didn't know their peak is like from 15 to like 18 or 19 or something like that," Durant said (via ESPN). "So, for her to be at that age and still elite, of course, yeah, I want to go check her out. I’ve always been a fan of what she was doing."
Jonathan Owens' reaction to LeBron James' comment on Simone Biles
NFL safety and Simone Biles' husband Jonathan Owens backed the statement of LeBron James and Kevin Durant when they lauded Simone Biles ahead of the Paris Olympics. He took to his Instagram stories and said:
"They all know!! Can't wait to watch!!!"
Along with LeBron James and Kevin Durant, another player who showcased their excitement to watch Simone Biles compete on the big stage was Indiana Pacers' point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who said (via ESPN):
"I heard it's really expensive to get in. But I think I can make that work."
Recently, Owens surprised Biles with an adorable tattoo of "S" on his left ring finger, a photo of which was then shared by the gymnast on her Instagram story.
Be it the NFL, when Biles was seen cheering for her husband from the sidelines, or the US gymnastics trials, where Owens was seen with a pen and paper, noting down points, the couple has been a huge support for each other in both seasons.
