A significant K-pop icon, BTS' Jin, originally Kim Seok-jin, carried the Olympic torch for the 2024 Paris Olympics in front of thousands of Parisians and K-pop fans. As the BTS star ran a 200m stretch along Rue de Rivoli, fans on social media celebrated the moment and took pride in the South Korean artist doing the Olympic honors.
The Paris 2024 gates will open on 26 July 2024, and the pre-event rituals are in full swing. The Hellenic Olympic Committee lit the first torch for the Paris Olympic Torch Relay in Olympia, Greece, the site where the Summer Games were held in ancient times.
The torch then embarked on a journey from the ancient site to the host city, Paris. From May 8, 2024, the Flame is touring across France. It will travel to some of France's most important historical and cultural sites, offering a unique insight into the history of the host nation.
Days before the main Games, BTS' Jin emerged from the Louvre Museum to run a 200m stretch with the Olympic torch, along Rue de Rivoli. In a post shared by the official Instagram handle of Paris 2024, the K-pop star can be seen carrying the Olympic torch. The caption read:
"Jin, member of BTS and K-pop star, lights up Paris by carrying the Olympic flame."
It was not only a monumental moment for BTS' Jin but for his passionate fanbase, ARMY, as well.
One fan called it Jin a wonderful representation of the Olympic essence:
"A wonderful representative of the Olympic spirit!"
Another fan was pleased to his Jin appear in the Olympic spotlight:

Another Instagram user called him 'Korea's pride' and offered support:

One fan wrote that BTS' Jin's run with the Olympic torch had "lit up the whole event":

BTS' Jin expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him
BTS' Jin recently completed his mandatory military service and made his first major public appearance in a long time. His achievement as one of the Olympic torchbearers was a proud moment for him on such a colossal stage.
After his run, BTS' Jin expressed his gratitude to the fans for the opportunity, saying:
"I feel extremely honored to have been able to participate in today's torch relay. I sincerely thank ARMY and all the fans who made it possible for me to carry the torch," (via India Today)
The Paris leg of the Olympic Torch Relay will conclude on Monday and then move on to tour other parts of France. On 26 July 26, the torch will be back in the host city for the Games' Opening Ceremony.
