Simone Biles once reflected on the moment when she and her siblings met her biological mother Shanon before they were adopted. Biles has three siblings, namely, Adria, Ashley, and Tevin.
All siblings were moved to foster care after Shanon struggled with drug and alcohol addiction and couldn't care for her children. While the Simone Biles and het sister Adria were adopted by Ronald and Nellie Biles, Ashley and Tevin were adopted by the gymnast's great-aunt.
In her autobiography, Courage to Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance, Biles reflected on the moment when her Shanon visited the siblings in Spring's foster care before they left for Texas. She remembered Ashley and Tevin crying to go home with their biological mother whereas she and Adria remained composed.
"Shanon wanted to see us before we left for Texas, so we met up with her at the Child Protective Services office in Columbus. Ashley and Tevin burst into tears when they saw her walking toward us with the social worker at her side. My sister and brother ended up sniffling all the way to Houston because they wanted to go back home. Adria and I didn’t cry," Biles wrote.
Simone Biles' biological mother seeks reconciliation with the gymnast
Simone Biles' biological mother Shanon recently expressed her wish to reconcile with her. Although Shanon is reported to be on good terms with Adria and other siblings, Biles is at odds with her.
The 52-year-old who works as a cashier at Save A Lot and currently resides in Columbus, Ohio expressed her desire to patch up with the gymnast while hoping for her foregiveness.
"I would like to make amends with Simone personally – I'm just waiting for her and Adria. I speak to Adria more than I speak to Simone. I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Don't judge me on my past. Let's move forward. I'm waiting for the opportunity but I'm waiting on her to be able to come to me. Let's sit down. I just have to be patient."
Shanon's voiced her desire following Biles' appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she bagged three golds, namely in the team, all-around, and vault events. The gymnast also bagged a silver medal in the vault event.
