Rebeca Andrade is the most successful Brazilian gymnast of all-time. She had an incredible season in 2024, winning multiple medals at the Paris Olympics. Recently, the 25-year-old announced that she has returned to the gym to train for the upcoming year.

Andrade's exploits at the 2024 Games saw her beat Simone Biles in the floor exercise event to win her second individual Olympic gold medal. Additionally, she also won bronze alongside the Brazilian team and two individual silver medals. After her success in Paris, Andrade has now returned to training.

Taking to her Instagram story, she shared a snap of the gym and wrote (translated from Portugese),

The 25-year-old first marked herself as one to watch out for during her junior career, winning medals at multiple important championships including the Gymnasiade and the Junior Pan American Championships. However, her senior debut in 2015 was marred by an ACL tear. The gymnast made a strong comeback to the sport the very next year, reaching the all-around finals of the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Four years later, at the Tokyo Games, Andrade won gold on the vault and a silver in the all-around events. 2021 also saw the Brazilian storm to a World Championships gold on the vault and silver on the uneven bars. Since then, the gymnast has gone on to win four more Olympic medals and seven more World Championships medals.

Rebeca Andrade’s Paris Olympics campaign began with her leading Brazil to the bronze medal in the team event. Up next, she won a silver in the all-around and vault events, before capping off her camping at the Games with a gold on the floor.

Reflecting on her time at the Games, Andrade wrote on Instagram (translated from Portuguese),

“It's about having the strength not to give up, having the grit and fighting until the end. It's about encouraging, supporting and making others believe it's possible! It's about representing everyone and feeling represented too! It's about being proud, crying, vibrating, screaming, being angry, but feeling a joy that invades everyone's chest when you beat yourself!”
“Everything is a result and it's always a step to grow more and more, even if you haven't reached your final goal. You have to have the energy to want more, do more, seek more, because as long as the flame of the goal is lit, the inner fire will keep burning and the chance to reach your highest place will keep rolling! Thank you Paris 2024,” she added.

Rebeca Andrade’s time at the Paris Olympics solidified her status as the most successful Brazilian gymnast of all-time. Her four podium finishes also made her the most decorated Brazilian Olympian in any sport.
