LSU gymnast Aleah Finnegan was spotted in her team's practice sessions before the 2025 season. This comes just a few months after the 21-year-old's maiden Olympic Games.
Even though she failed to bag a medal in the event, Finnegan made history by becoming the highest-placed gymnast from her country in the vault apparatus, 17th. Following this campaign in the elite circuit, Finnegan has started her preparations for the new collegiate season as she gears up for her fourth and final year with the Tigers.
Finnegan took her Instagram stories to share a few glimpses of her training sessions. In her stories, the 21-year-old can be seen executing her uneven bars moves wearing an LSU purple and gold leotard. She wrote:
"Old dog, new tricks #senior szn"
Aleah Finnegan has been one of the leading members of the Tigers', especially in the floor exercises apparatus. She has registered numerous impressive performances for her side in tournaments such as the 2024 NCAA Championships and the SEC Championships.
Following the footsteps of her older sister Sarah Finnegan (2017 and 19 NCAA uneven bars champion), she also clinched an individual title at the NCAA events. She touched the feat earlier this year when she scored 9.9625 points to secure the floor exercises title.
Aleah Finnegan opened up about her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics
Aleah Finnegan commented on her all-around performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She failed to make it through to the finals of this apparatus after securing the 32nd spot in the qualification stages.
In an interview after her performance, Finnegan stated that she was a bit disappointed with her performance considering the prowess she possesses. The 21-year-old also mentioned that despite this early exit, she is 'proud' with this all-around performance. She said (via LSU Wire):
"We finished all the way through and on the back side, being really proud of myself for how I did today. But on the other side, a little disappointment in myself because I know what I’m capable of. No matter what, I’m walking here with my head held high."
Representing the Philippines national team, Aleah Finnegan has tasted frequent success with the side. At the 2023 Asian Championships, she clinched two individual bronze medals in the vault and balance beam apparatuses. She helped her country win the team gold at the 2021 South East Asian Games and also clinched three individual medals: gold in vaults and silver in all-around and beam balance.
