Alica Schmidt recently underwent fitness tests ahead of the 2025 track season. The German athlete recently announced that she will now focus on the 800m distance in the upcoming season.
Schmidt wrapped up her 2024 season after competing in the Paris Olympics; however, the campaign did not pan out as expected for her. She fell short of making it to the finals of the women's 4x400m relay, as she and her team, which included Skadi Schier, Mayer, and Demed, attained seventh place in Heat 2 of the event, leading to their disqualification.
After this, she and her team (Sanders, Demes, and Bredau) competed in the mixed 4x400m relay event. They met the same fate as the women's 4x400m relay, finishing in the seventh position in Heat 2 of the race. Following this, the athlete went into the off-season and is currently training for the 2025 season.
She recently shared some sneak peeks of her fitness tests on her Instagram story ahead of the start of the upcoming season. In the first glimpse, the athlete showcased 'how it started,' and she was seen running on the treadmill with a mask on, with her speed was gradually increasing.
In the next story, Schmidt was seen panting after the completion of the exercise on the treadmill, and she wrote:
"Done 🙌😮💨"

Alica Schmidt, whose patent events have always been the 400m, recently announced her plans to transition to the 800m dash for the 2025 track season. She took to her Instagram account and extended her gratitude for the 2024 season before making the major announcement about her upcoming plan. She shared a carousel of pictures on her social media, showcasing her year, and captioned:
"Got some news 🤭👀It’s been quite a year 🤯 It was filled with so many highlights and I made some memories that will last forever: from the world relays in the Bahamas, where we qualified the mixed relay for the Olympics to the European championships in Rome, where we qualified the women’s 4x400m for Pari to the German nationals and of course: THE OLYMPICS🥹" Alica Schmidt wrote.
She added:
"After Paris I tried something new and ran a 800m & 600m and really enjoyed pushing out of my comfort zone. Back in 2022, I decided that I wanted to give the 800m a shot after the Paris Olympics, so now it means… I’m going for it next year. I‘m on my way to my first high altitude training camp where I’ll join an international 800m group to train alongside great athletes where I can learn a lot."
Alica Schmidt recently went on a four-week vacation with her friends during the off-season.
