Alica Schmidt shared a clip of her first time running with her teammates in a practice session. The German runner was a participant at the 2024 Summer Olympics, her second trip to the Games after Tokyo.
Alica Schmidt competed in the mixed 4x400m relay event at the Paris Games but didn't make it to the finals. Since returning from the French capital, the 26-year-old has been regularly updating about her track training while balancing brand campaigns and holiday outings.
On January 11, 2025, she took to her Instagram story to share a glimpse of her session with her teammates, captioning:
"First time running in a train with my girls"
Six days ago, she anticipated the upcoming indoor session with a video montage on her Instagram handle, captioning:
"Indoor season is around the corner, last few weeks of preparation here in South Africa before it‘s go time"
On November 18, 2024, Alica Schmidt shared that she travelled to South Africa to train at high altitudes with a training group before preparing for the 2025 track season.
"First week is already in the books. First week is already in the books. Had a good week of training and in great company ☺️ Let‘s get back to work for another two weeks in high altitude 🙌🏼 feels good to make progress week by week," her Instagram post caption read.
The two-time Olympian was part of the German 4x400m relay squad that won silver at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships in Grosseto. Her repertoire also includes the 4x400m relay bronze from the 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships.
Alica Schmidt announced she would go for the 800m races in the 2025 track season
Schmidt started her career with the 200, 400m, and 800m but stayed with the 400m, competing in the 4x400m relay events. However, after her Paris Olympic appearance, the German runner announced that she would try 800m events in 2025 to fulfil what she dreamed of in 2022.
"Got some news. After Paris, I tried something new and ran a 800m & 600m and really enjoyed pushing out of my comfort zone. Back in 2022, I decided that I wanted to give the 800m a shot after the Paris Olympics, so now it means… I’m going for it next year," she wrote.
Schmidt, the Puma-sponsored athlete, has been a regular in Hugo Boss' brand covers since her Olympic outing. She also featured in Vitamin Well Deutschland, and Barebells campaigns, among others.
