Alica Schmidt is not only popular for being a quarter-miler but also a social media star, with massive followings on TikTok (2.2M) and Instagram (5.7M). As a result, she has earned endorsement deals with multiple brands, including Hugo Boss, Puma, and others.
In the field of track, Schmidt made her Olympics debut in Paris, where she competed in the women’s 4x400m relay and mixed 4x400m relay events. In her season-ending competition, she participated at the ISTAF Berlin in the 600m, finishing third in a time of 1:24.88.
For the 2025 season, the 26-year-old announced in an Instagram post that she will be focusing on the 800m. After participating in several middle-distance events following the quadrennial games, Schmidt has decided to make the switch for the upcoming season. However, she will still be running the 400m. She also showed excitement for this new journey, adding:
"I‘m super excited for this new challenge and what it will bring ✨ (I‘m also going to run the 400m but focus more on the endurance part in training for now) Let this journey begin"
Alica Schmidt weighs in on wearing jewelry and showing personality while competing
Many track and field athletes are known for showing off their personalities through hairstyles, nails, kits, and makeup. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Noah Lyles are some top athletes who have flaunted their individuality in unique ways during competitions.
Ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Alica Schmidt was asked about her thoughts on showing personality, including wearing jewelry, on the track. In an interview with Vogue, she responded:
“Of course, competition is primarily about performance, but how you feel is also important. So it's nice for us that we can wear lucky charms, for example, or express ourselves through our style. Because if you feel good about something and it can give you a bit of self-confidence, it's all the nicer.”
Notably, after the Paris Olympics, Schmidt got a tattoo of the Olympic rings on her thigh to commemorate becoming an Olympian.
