Brazilian sprinter and hurdler Alison Dos Santos delivered a top performance at the 2024 Oslo Diamond League as he pulled off a stunning victory in the 400m hurdles in a nail-biting contest against home favorite Karsten Warholm. The 23-year-old produced a world-leading performance at the Bislett Games as he registered a time of 46.63s.
Warholm, who was running his first race in the discipline in the 2024 season, also had an impressive outing as he recorded a time of 46.70s to place second.

This was Alison’s second event in the discipline in the 2024 season, having previously competed at the Doha Diamond League which he won comprehensively in a time of 46.86s, finishing ahead of the second-placed CJ Allen (48.39s) from the USA.
In 2024, he also participated in the 400m distance at the Pepsi Florida Relays and Tom Jones Memorial where he came first and second respectively, recording 45.25s at both meets.
On the other hand, Warholm made his 2024 outdoor debut in the 300m hurdles at the Trond Mohn Games where he topped the event after clocking 33.28s. He had earlier competed in the 400m during the World Athletics Indoor Championships where he clinched the silver medal.
A look into Alison Dos Santos and Karsten Warholm’s performance in top events
One notable event where both Karsten Warholm and Alison Dos Santos appeared was at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics held in 2021. There, Karsten Warholm heightened the excitement of athletics fans with a world record performance in the 400m hurdles after clocking a time of 45.94s.
The race saw Santos clinching the bronze medal as he clocked a time of 46.72s to establish a new South American record. Meanwhile, the silver medalist Rai Benjamin also achieved a record-breaking North American record, setting a time of 46.17s.
Both Santos and Warholm have achieved multiple accomplishments throughout their athletics careers. Santos is the 2022 World and Diamond League champion in the 400m hurdles. On the other hand, the Norwegian athlete has bagged three World Championships and two Diamond League titles so far in his career.
As the 2024 Paris Olympics approaches, the 400m hurdles race is expected to draw a lot of eyeballs with the presence of both Alison Dos Santos and Karsten Warholm in the event.
