Kishane Thompson, Noah Lyles, Kenny Bednarek, Fred Kerley, and Oblique Seville were some of the top athletes who qualified for the semifinals of the men's 100m event at the Paris Olympics. A total of eight heats featured some of the fastest athletes in the world competing for a spot in the semifinals of the 100m.
According to the qualification criteria for the semifinals, the top three athletes of all the heats and the next three of the fastest athletes would advance to the semifinal of the Men's 100m at the Paris Olympics. USA's Kenny Bednarek and Fred Kerley were the fastest qualifiers of round 1 after clocking 9.97s.
Team GB athlete Louie Hinchliffe, coached by the legendary athlete, Carl Lewis, was the third-fastest finisher with a time of 9.98s. Jamaicans Oblique Seville and Kishane Thompson also breezed through their heats to qualify for the semi-finals with ease.
On the other hand, 2023 World Champion, Noah Lyles was the 12th qualifier overall with a time of 10.04s. The American athlete finished second in his heat behind Louie Hinchliffe. Defending 100m Olympic Champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs was the 13th qualifier with a time of 10.05s
Kishane Thompson, Letsile Tebogo, Noah Lyles, Kenny Bednarek, Oblique Seville, and Fred Kerley are some of the top athletes who will be contesting for the pinnacle crown in the 100m.
The Men's 100m semi-finals will be held on August 4, 2024, at 2:05 pm ET.
