Gabby Thomas, Favour Ofili, Julien Alfred, Dina Asher-Smith, Brittany Brown, and Daryll Neita were some of the top athletes who qualified for the semi-finals in the women's 200m at the Paris Olympics. Round 1 featured 6 heats, out of which 3 of the fastest athletes of each heat would gain automatic qualification, while the other athletes would get an opportunity to qualify for the semi-final via the Repechage Round.
Shericka Jackson was scheduled to compete in heat 3 of the first round of the women's 200m, however, the athlete withdrew from the race moments before commencement. USA's Gabby Thomas was the fastest qualifier in the women's 200m round 1 with a time of 22.20s.
Nigeria's Favour Ofili was the second-fastest qualifier with a time of 22.24s and British athlete, Dina Asher-Smith was the third-fastest qualifier with a time of 22.28s. The 100m Olympic champion Julien Alfred clocked 22.41s to breeze through her heats and was the sixth-fastest qualifier overall.
