Dutch track and field athlete Femke Bol is all set to participate at the European Athletics Championships 2024.
The championships, marking the 26th installment of the prestigious tournament, are scheduled from June 7 to June 12 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy.
Bol, the continental record holder in the 400m hurdles, will be looking to make an impression at the European Championships 2024 ahead of her participation at the Paris Olympics 2024.
In a recent video shared by Bol on her Instagram (IG) story, she expressed her excitement for the upcoming edition of the European Championships 2024, stating:
“Hi! I’m Femke Bol, I’m world record holder of the 400m indoors. All roads lead to Rome”
In addition to Bol encouraging fans to purchase tickets for the tournament, the video also includes footage of her participation in the European Athletics Championships 2022 in Munich, accompanied by commentary on her performance at the event.
During the 2024 indoor season, Bol opened her campaign at the Meeting Metz Moselle 2024, one of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver events, winning both 200m and 400m events with timings of 23.93s and 49.69s, respectively.
At the Dutch Indoor National Championships 2024, she achieved a new world record time of 49.24s in the 400m. Bol once again displayed her brilliance at the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024, held two weeks later, by establishing another world record in the discipline with a new time of 49.17s.
A look at Femke Bol’s achievements at the European Athletics Championships
Femke Bol has earned three gold medals at the European Athletics Championships, which she won at Munich in 2022. This included her exploits in the 400m, 400m hurdles, and women’s 4x400m relay events.
Bol clinched her first gold in the 400m event with a European lead and then national record performance, with a time of 49.44s. She added another gold in her signature 400m hurdles event by clocking a sensational championship record time of 52.67s.
She concluded her incredible campaign in Munich by playing an important role in helping the Netherlands earn the 4x400m relay. Bol ran the last leg of the race. In addition to Bol, the Dutch team comprising Eveline Saalberg, Lieke Klaver, and Lisanne de Witte clocked a European lead and national record performance of 3:20.87.
