The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Netflix have partnered to produce three sports series, featuring Simone Biles, Sha'Carri Richardson, and Noah Lyles, in anticipation of the Paris Olympics 2024, scheduled from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The first part of each sports series is set to be released before the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Simone Biles: Rising” is one of the series that will focus on the life of the gymnast, who is considered one of the greatest of all time. The story is set to take a closer look at the period when Simone Biles suffered from Twisties at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Since Twisties is a dangerous state that the gymnasts may experience which can ultimately affect both their performances and severely impact their well-being, Biles chose to completely withdraw from multiple events rather than pushing and challenging herself to compete in the Olympic disciplines.
The four-episode sports series “Simone Biles: Rising”, directed by Katie Walsh in association with executive producers Gotham Chopra, Ameeth Sankaran, Giselle Parets, and Janey Miller, will dive into Biles’ goals and preparations for the upcoming edition of the Summer Olympics in Paris.
Another docuseries “Sprint”, featuring track sensations Noah Lyles, Sha'Carri Richardson, and Shericka Jackson, will revolve around the lives of the athletes, who have made a name for themselves as some of the fastest competitors in the sport today. This will include their journey starting from the 2023 World Athletics Championships till the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The executive producers for the Sprint series are Paul Martin, James Gay-Rees, and the head of sports and factual at Box to Box, Warren Smith.
Meanwhile, the third docuseries “Olympic Men’s Basketball” will bring the journey of the basketball players, both veterans and promising athletes, closer to the audience as they aim for qualification at the 2024 Paris Olympics and then look to secure medals at the quadrennial Games.
