Former track and field athlete Allyson Felix has launched a initiative aiming to set up free childcare for mothers on Election Day, November 5, for various regions across the USA. This scheme will mostly help mothers of children between the ages of 3 months and 6 years.

The 38-year-old has collaborated with the advocacy organization "Chamber of Mothers" and the NGO "Politisit" for this initiative. Felix's initiative aims to help black mothers in North Carolina who face difficulties in affording child care.

Apart from North Carolina, the cities of Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, and Hoboken, will also enjoy the services of this endeavor. This initiative will cover around two hours of free care for the children and the interested mothers can apply this benefit by filling out a form on the official site of Politisit.

In a statement, Felix opened up about this significant step for the mothers. She also mentioned that on the upcoming election day, the mothers can take care of their children along with casting their vote. She said:

"You should never have to choose between your profession, your passions, and motherhood. I’m honored to… tell moms that this election, you don’t have to choose between voting and motherhood. This election, you can do both.”

Allyson Felix herself has competed at the highest level after attaining motherhood. She took part in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 where she won two medals, in the 400m and 4x400m relay. She was also the brainchild behind the setting up of a child nursery at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Allyson Felix spoke earlier this month about what she hoped to achieve with her decision to set up a management firm to help female athletes. This comes just a few months after she was elected as a member of the Olympic committee for the 2024 quadrennial Games.

In an interview with USA Today Sports, Felix said she aims to grow female athletes' "brands." She said,

"We need to be focused on these athletes, and that's what we're here to do. To help grow their brands, and to do it in a nontraditional way.”

Allyson Felix's management brand is called "Always Alpha" and its ownership group includes Felix herself, Wes Felix, and Cosette Chaput.
