Allyson Felix received appreciation from Bill Gates' former wife, Melinda French Gates, for introducing a nursery for athletic mothers at the Olympic Village. Aware of the challenges of juggling athletics and parental duties, Felix partnered with Pampers to create a space for mothers and children.

After giving birth to her firstborn in November 2018, Felix returned to competitive racing in July 2019 with the Tokyo Olympics in foresight. Ahead of the Paris Olympics, she aimed to provide better support for athletes with children. Felix's Pampers Nursery will be located at the center of the Athletic Village Plaza.

"I just knew how difficult it was to compete at the top level after I had my daughter ... when I joined the Athletes Commission of the IOC, I really wanted to be that voice for athlete moms, and just take away one less thing for them to worry about in the pressure of competition," Felix said (per CBS Sports).

The warm gesture moved the former multimedia product developer, Melinda French Gates, who shared the inspiring act of Felix on her Instagram story.

"Applauding the amazing Gallysonfelix for creating a space where athletes who are moms can nurse and spend time with their babies at the Paris Olympics this summer," Melinda Gates wrote in the story.

In response, Felix thanked Gates for being an inspirational figure throughout her journey.

"Thank you @melindafrenchgates! working hard to change the culture. forever inspired by your work."

Allyson Felix left an indelible mark on the track and field world, which resonates to this date. She won seven Olympic gold medals, garnering popularity for her incredible performances in six gold-winning relay teams (both 4x100m and 4x400m) at the Olympics. Her impressive resume also includes three silvers and one bronze from the Olympics and 14 golds from the World Championships.

Allyson Felix is widely considered the most decorated female sprinter with 31 medals across Olympics and World Championships.

Allyson Felix received $20 million from the Melinda Gates Foundation

Felix was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia during her first childbirth experience, a condition prevalent among African-American women. She delivered her baby via an emergency C-section and immediately turned to testifying on the black maternal mortality crisis topic at the United States House Committee on Ways and Means.

Since then, she has been an advocate for providing the best care and facilities for the maternal health of Black mothers. Melinda Gates supported her gesture and donated a $20 million grant to support her work. Felix was 'humbled' to receive the help and said (via CBS Mornings):

"I’m so humbled to receive it and I’m excited to put the money to good work."

Allyson Felix announced her retirement in 2022 but her introduction of the Nursery would be useful to athletic mothers whose babies will accompany them to the Games.
