Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone opened up about her opinion on people's reaction to her faith in Christianity. The American hurdler recently concluded the 2024 season after competing at the Brussels Diamond League finals.
The 25-year-old recently appeared in the Life & Books & Everything podcast, where she spoke about people's opinions on her unwavering faith in Christianity. She revealed that she meets both kinds of people: ones who don't like her message and the ones who wish to connect with her on that level.
Opening up about speaking to athletes about faith, she said (42:40 onwards):
"There's always going to be people who don't like your message, don't like what you stand for and you know they kind of make it clear but we always try to be respectful and polite and loving to those people anyways. It's been actually surprising just to see even within the sport, you know, other athletes who you know and Andre can attest you just want to have conversations about their faith about the Lord about where they're walking and having questions which has been really encouraging, bridging een at track meets or before races or after races wanting to connect on that level."
McLaughlin-Levrone delivered a brilliant performance at the Paris Olympics, clocking a world record in the 400m hurdles. She ran at a blistering speed of 50.37s, beating her arch-rivals, Anna Cockrell and Femke Bol, who claimed second and third place, respectively. Following this, she also won a gold medal in the 4x400m relay dash.
The athlete is currently gearing up for the 2025 season, where she will compete in Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track.
