Lada Gaya expressed delight at Simone Biles' almost flawless balance beam performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She also said that she was honored to be able to witness it in person.
The U.S. women's gymnastics team, placed in subdivision 2, was in action at the Summer Games on Sunday (July 28). Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Hezly Rivera joined Simone Biles on the balance beam.
When her turn came, Biles showed no nerves as she nailed her routine. She was so confident in her performance that there was a wide grin on her face, with her coach Cecile Landi jumping up in joy on the sidelines.
Biles ended up scoring 14.733 in beam a figure that few, if any, will be able to match. Among the many in the stadium to witness the performance was Lady Gaga, the American singer-songwriter who performed during the Opening Ceremony on Friday.
She took to social media to express her joy and said:
"She nailed it, what an honor to be so close!"
Simone Biles' performance at Paris Olympics so far: A recap
Such is the stardom that Simone Biles has that the Bercy Arena gave her a huge round of applause when she made her entrance. She soaked in the atmosphere and waved to the fans with a big smile on her face ahead of the second of five women's qualifying sessions at the Paris Olympics.
She exuded confidence when she took center stage and executed a near-flawless routine on the balance beam. The two-layout stepout series and a full-twisting double back dismount earned her 14.733.
The 27-year-old then seemed to have tweaked her left ankle during her one-touch warm-up. She took to the mat with a heavily taped ankle and earned 14.600 with her performance.
When Biles came off the podium, her coach Cecile Landi was spotted asking if she was feeling alright, and the American confirmed she was okay. The injury does not look serious as she was later seen waving to her parents in the stands and even shared a laugh with Landi.
The Ohio native then scored a mighty impressive 15.800 on the vault. Her second vault, a Cheng, earned her 14.800, giving her an average of 15.300. And finally, she scored 14.433 on the uneven bars to see her finish with 59.566 to her name.
