Anna Hall wished her elder sister, Kara Hall, a birthday with a series of pictures from different phases of their lives. Hall became an Olympian in 2024 Paris, clinching fifth place in the heptathlon event.
Anna Hall, the North American indoor record holder for the pentathlon, hails from a family of athletes. Her father, David Hall. was a quarterback on the University of Michigan's football team, having played in the Rose Bowl in 1983. Her elder sister Julia Hall was a track and field athlete for the Michigan Wolverines.
Hall's second elder sister, Kara Hall, who played tennis for the Michigan Wolverines, celebrated her birthday on January 19, 2025. The heptathlete wished her beloved sibling with a series of Instagram stories.
The first story, featuring Anna and Kara Hall, was captioned:
"happy birthday to my amazing big sister"
The following selfie was paired with a note of appreciation for Kara.
"amazing sister, wife, daughter, friend and now mama"
The next was a childhood picture of Kara holding little Anna in her arms, followed by the sisters embracing after the former's track event.
In another story, Hall shared a diary page with 'The Hall Newspaper' written on it.
"Thanks for running the family newspaper back in the day," the caption said.
The following picture had all the sisters posing for a group photo with Kara as the 'leading' one.
"Thanks for leading our girl gang"
Kara Hall was a tutee at the legendary Chris Evert's eponymous tennis academy, playing in the ITF and USTA events.
Anna Hall once revealed that growing up with her athletic sisters was integral to her growth in sports
Having followed in her sister Julia Hall's footsteps and lived in the same household as her tennis player sister, Kara, Anna Hall took up athletics. In an interview in 2021, she shared how her career in sports was influenced by her sisters.
"We were always around sports, and especially because I was younger than my sisters, I always saw them doing soccer and track. I was, from a really, really young age, just always trying to catch up and get involved.” (via Red and Black)
She further revealed how the sibling rivalry turned into mutual respect.
"There’s a mutual respect nowadays. When we were younger, it was definitely different. We were always trying to beat each other at various things. But now, on the track, I'd say we have very much a mutual respect for each other, but we still compete in little ways, like with our Apple Watches.”
Hall was the heptathlon silver medalist at the 2023 World Championships. Her performances were also instrumental in the Florida Gators bringing indoor and outdoor titles at the NCAA Championships.
