One of the most successful Australian swimmers of all time, Ariarne Titmus recently explored a different sport as she attended Novak Djokovic’s charity exhibition match ahead of the 2025 Australian Open. The four-time Olympic medalist shared her experience on social media.
On Thursday, January 9, Djokovic starred in ‘A Night with Novak,' the third edition of the charity exhibition event that raises funds for numerous children’s charities through the Australian Tennis Foundation. The tennis icon partnered with China's Zheng Qinwen, as the duo took on former Olympic champions Andy Murray and Belinda Bencic in a fun match.
The event also featured wheelchair tennis, as Djokovic and Murray partnered world No. 1 Tokito Oda and Australian legend Dylan Alcott to highlight the sport. Ariarne Titmus attended the charity exhibition and later took to her Instagram to show her appreciation for the event, writing:
“A Night with Novak. Thank you @tennisaustralia for an amazing evening courtside! I'm looking forward to seeing more tennis action over the next couple of weeks working with @wwos.”
Ariarne Titmus takes up surprising role at the Australian Open 2025
Ariarne Titmus has taken up a new role at the 2025 Australian Open. The 24-year-old swimmer, alongside canoe World and Olympic champion Jessica Fox, will be a commentator at the tournament for Channel Nine.
Speaking on her new role, Titmus said she was excited for the opportunity to broaden her skill set, telling News Corp:
"I have always been a tennis fan and having the chance to be at the Australian Open in this capacity is very exciting. The AO encompasses Australian culture and our love for sport as a nation. It will be a new and challenging experience being on the other end of the mic, but one I am very grateful for.I’m [also] looking forward to working alongside a great team and broadening my skills outside of the pool."
Ariarne Titmus is one of Australia's most successful swimmers. She rose to fame in 2018 when she set a world record en-route to the 400m freestyle gold medal at the short course World Swimming Championships. She successfully defended her title a year later.
Titmus made her Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Games, winning gold in both the 200m and 400m freestyle races. At the Paris Olympics 2024, she retained her 400m title, outdoing Summer McIntosh and Katie Ledecky.
