Ariarne Titmus expressed her thoughts over the emotional exchange of words and hugs between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev at the 2025 Australian Open finals. Sinner handed Zverev his third consecutive Grand Slam finals defeat in straight sets and the German broke down after the game.
Sinner became the first man since 2017 Rafael Nadal at the 2017 US Open to not face a break point in a major final, winning 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3 to defeat the World No.2. Zverev, who lost the French Open finals to Carlos Alcaraz last year, was emotional following the loss before Sinner consoled him with a hug and words of reassurance.
The three-time Grand Slam champion hugged Zverev and told him that he would lift the trophy someday.
“I was quite down. I was quite emotional also in that stage. I think he saw that. He said that I would definitely lift one of those trophies in my career. I'm too good not to. That's his words," he said (via ATP)
