Astana Indoor Meet for Amin Tuyakov Prizes Results: Kishane Thompson defeats Andre de Grasse to win 60m, Chase Jackson dominates women's shot put

The 2025 Astana Indoor Meet marked the start of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold on January 25, Saturday. The tour’s opening gold meet witnessed numerous track and field athletes delivering impressive performances to kick off their athletics season.

Olympic 100m silver medalist Kishane Thompson lived up to his reputation as he recorded 6.56s to bag the men's 60m title at the Astana Indoor Meet. Former 200m Olympic champion Andre De Grasse finished sixth, clocking a time of 6.74s.

On the other hand, Tia Clayton, the Paris Olympics 100m finalist, achieved a comfortable win in the women's 60m event, clocking 7.18s in the final.

In the women's shot put, two-time World Indoor Championships medalist Chase Jackson asserted her dominance, as she recorded an impressive throw of 19.13m, finishing ahead of Swedish athlete and two-time European Indoor medalist, Fanni Roos, whose throw cleared 18.32m.

The Astana Indoor Meet also featured a record-breaking show as 16-year-old Marta Alemayo from Ethiopia shattered the world U18 3000m best to collect the women's title at the distance.

In the men's 60m hurdles, Dylan Beard from the USA clocked a remarkable 7.58 to win the event. Meanwhile, Japan's Yumi Tanaka claimed victory in the women's 60m hurdles race with a 8.05s run.
