Dutch hurdler Femke Bol has started her track preparations ahead of the 2025 track and field season. This comes just a week after Bol was seen spending her holiday on the island of Sicily.
Bol has had an incredible 2024, winning three Olympic medals and two World Indoor Championships gold medals. She also ended her season as the No.1 400m hurdler in the world with 1494 points to her name, beating Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone by 32 points.
Despite this impressive season, Bol hasn't taken a prolonged break and has started her preparations for 2025 just a few weeks after she clinched her fourth Diamond League title in Brussels. Bol took to her Instagram handle to share a photo of her training with fellow Dutch athlete, Liemarvin Bonevacia. In the pictures, both athletes can be seen wearing track pants and running shoes.
Bol wrote in the caption:
"Back to Work"
Bol and Bonavacia were teammates during the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome. They competed together in the 4x400m mixed relay event and won a bronze medal with a run time of 3:10.73.
Bol will be competing in some major tournaments in her 2025 season including the World Championships in Tokyo. She will enter the event as the 400m hurdles defending champion.
Femke Bol opened up about her loss in the 400m hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics
Femke Bol opened up about her loss in the hurdles event at the Stade de France in Paris. The Dutch athlete had to settle for a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics after finishing behind her US rivals Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Anna Cockrell.
In an interview with Dutch TV after the conclusion of the 400m hurdles event in August, Bol stated that she was disheartened with the loss. She also remarked that she wasn't able to keep her pace after the 250m mark during the race. She said:
"I came here for the very best race of my life. And I ran one of my worst. I really don't get it. I’m extremely disappointed. After 250 meters I really wasn't able to run [as fast] anymore," Femke Bol told Dutch broadcaster NOS after the race.
Notably this defeat to McLaughlin-Levrone was also Bol's only loss in the 2024 track and field season. She won all the other 400m hurdles events she competed in, including the European Championships and the Diamond League finals.
