The 2024 edition of the Berlin Marathon concluded on Sunday, September 29 in and around the German capital. This year marked the 50th anniversary of this World Marathon major event.

The men's event was wide open in this year's marathon competition with the defending champion, Eliud Kipchoge absent from the field. As the event unfolded, it saw a tight contest among the participants with just 0.5 seconds separating the first and second finishers.

24-year-old Ethiopian marathon runner Milkesa Mengesha clinched the first position in this event after clocking a run time of 2:03:17 and will bag a prize money of 50,000 USD. His compatriot Haymanot Alew and 2022 Hamburg Marathon winner Cybrian Kotut clinched the third and second positions with run times of 2:03:31 and 2:03:22 respectively and will receive approximately 25,500 USD and 12,500 USD.

The women's elite event of the 2024 Berlin Marathon was also dominated by the Ethiopians, who claimed all three podium finishes in the event. 2017 African U20 Championships gold medalist Tigist Ketema grabbed the top spot in the race after clocking a run time of 2:16:42.
