The 2024 Berlin Marathon will take place on Sunday, September 29, in Germany's capital. Runners will pass through iconic landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Berlin Cathedral, and the Victory Column.
This will also be the 50th installment of the marathon, which makes it a grand occasion for the runners to script their names in history. Notably, the Berlin Marathon is also one of the six World Marathon Majors (WMM). With the Tokyo, Boston, and London Marathons already completed this year, Berlin will be the fourth race in the WMM calendar, with the Chicago and New York events yet to commence.
The course record for the Berlin Marathon is currently held by none other than Eliud Kipchoge in the men’s field, clocking a 2:01:09 in 2022. Meanwhile, the women’s course record was set by Tigist Assefa of Ethiopia, who set a new world record in the event by recording a phenomenal 2:11:53 in 2023.
