Jordan Chiles is emotional and proud as Netflix released the trailer of ‘Simone Biles: Rising’, a docuseries focused on the seven-time Olympic medalist’s journey back to the top after the unfortunate ‘twisties' incident in the 2020 Tokyo Games. It will be released in two parts, with the first coming out a week ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics in July.
'Twisties' is a mental health condition where the body and mind are out of sync. Suffering from the same during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Biles fell during a vault routine, prompting withdrawal from several events later. She did return to take bronze on Balance Beam but later took more than a year-long break from the sport.
The Netflix Docuseries follows Biles’ journey during the period and her comeback at the 2023 World Championships. It will also follow the gymnast’s journey to Paris, but more importantly, showcase her personal life and husband, Jonathan Owens, who was part of the recently released trailer.
Jordan Chiles, who replaced Simone Biles in the Team finals in Tokyo after her withdrawal, reacted emotionally as the trailer of the Netflix docuseries was released. Taking to Instagram story to express her unbounded happiness, the Olympic medalist wrote:
"Not me crying. beyond proud of this girl...@simonebiles."
Both Jordan Chiles and Simone Biles are the favorites to make it to the USA Gymnastics Team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Expressing her admiration for the five-time Olympic gold medalist earlier this year, Chiles told Fox News:
"Biles and Chiles … we love each other so much. … That's my bestie. We're Biles and Chiles for a reason. She's definitely proven a lot within her time of her comeback era. She won core classics. She's done amazing things at world (championships). She has all these medals. I'm beyond proud."
Jordan Chiles hypes Simone Biles' Olympic comeback
Simone Biles will return as a favorite to Paris, at least for three individual gold medals she holds from the 2016 Rio Olympics. She didn't win a single gold medal in Tokyo, but Jordan Chiles is hopeful that Biles will make the ‘biggest comeback that's ever been known’.
"I'm that little sister. … I will give her all her flowers, her crown, whatever it needs to be. Yes, there's times where we both have bad days. … I know this comeback for her is about to be the biggest comeback that's ever been known, and I'm really excited to see where this year takes her. Paris … this is her time," Chiles told Fox News.
Chiles also said that everyone would be left in awe of Simone Biles after the conclusion of the Summer Games. Very few would bet against that as the 27-year-old is coming off a record-breaking triumph at the US Gymnastics Championships, where she swept each of the five available titles.
